Dia de los Muertos Community Ofrenda Exhibit

Details

Celebrate the beautiful and meaningful tradition of Dia de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) with us! Originating in Mexico, this heartfelt celebration has spread across Latin America, the United States, and the world. It's a time to honor and remember friends and family who have passed away, welcoming their spirits back on November 1-2 with love and offerings.

At the Bastrop Museum, you’ll experience stunning ofrendas (altars) created by local families of all backgrounds. These ofrendas include photos, food, and mementos of loved ones passed on as part of this special tradition. We will also have a community altar where anyone is welcome to leave a photo or note for a loved one who has passed. (Please bring copies of photos, as they cannot be returned.)

We invite you to come, appreciate, and celebrate this beautiful tradition with us. Who will you honor at our ofrenda?
